New police inspector impresses council

A session with a new police inspector has impressed Bersted Parish Council members.

Five councillors met Inspector Clare McKnight to discuss their criticisms about policing in the area.

Brian Knight, the council's chairman, said: "I went away feeling that at least we had someone in the post who would sit and listen to our problems."

Gez Watson, who is also involved with the Trees Estate Residents' Association, said police had become more visible on the estate since the talk with Insp McKnight.

They were also patrolling more on foot to enable them to get around the many cul-de-sacs and footpaths.

"Anti-social behaviour is still continuing but it is not so prolonged, though some of the incidents are serious," she said.
