New Ford factory would create 15 jobs

About 15 jobs will be created if plans to turn an empty building in Ford into a factory are approved.

Simon Holmes has applied for planning permission to change the use of Unit G at Ford Airfield Industrial Estate from storage and distribution.

His planning agent, Chris Ward of Bryan Jezeph Consultancy Ltd, has told Arun District Council: "The proposal involves using the building for manufacturing/ assembly purposes rather than for storage.

"The company involved produces high-tech plant and machinery that needs to be mobile and easy to move from place to place.

"Consequently, the operational plant is either mounted on to a

variety of small commercial vehicles or on to towable trailer units."

Most of the parts will be brought in from elsewhere and assembled on site with lathes, drilling and welding machinery.

It is expected an average of one lorry a day will bring in the parts and one a week will take away the assembled plant.
