Murder at the Mowbray

The Mowbray Hotel invites would-be sleuths to investigate the death of the Duke of Yorkie by questioning a talented cast from Underground Productions. Mine hosts at the four-star hotel, Darren and Laura Weir, both criminal barristers by profession, have put together an intriguing whodunit.

Dean Matthews, who is excellent as saucy solicitor Sam Christie, sets the scene by reading the Duke's Will. Dee Sharpe, as the Duke's fiery sister-in-law, is also utterly convincing and they are given good support by Phillip Willet, Rob Wood and June Harris.

Guests take on roles themselves while trying to discover each other's secrets. My only criticism is that we should be given slightly less written questions, which would mean more time to indulge in some delightful repartee with the actors.

It's all great fun as we are treated to some amazing - yet credible - motives.
