Motorists' slippery trip along the A259 at Littlehampton

AN OIL spill three-quarters of a mile long was a slippery hazard for motorists yesterday morning (April 21, 2008).

The westbound carriageway of the A259 was affected, between the Horsham Road Body Shop roundabout, and the junction with Wick Street, for more than an hour from just before 9am.

A fire crew from Littlehampton monitored the situation until the arrival a county council gritting lorry, which scattered sand on the road to absorb the oil spill.
