More talks on car park charges

THE CONTENTIOUS issue of car park charges in Bexhill is to be put out for consultation before a final decision is made.

The Observer learned yesterday that residents and businesses will have a chance to voice their view on the controversial issue before a report is handed back to cabinet.

The necessary paperwork is currently being drawn up.

At a recent cabinet meeting recommendations were made to bring in charges at the 40 space Little Common and the 60 space Beeching Close car parks.

The possibility of a pay - to - park scheme at Manor Gardens, in the Old Town was also discussed.

The move comes as the local authority struggles to keep Council Tax within government limits.

Rother cabinet will examine and debate the findings of the consultation before making a decision.

Any changes in car parking charges will have to go before the full council before being implemented.
