Peddling through Littlehampton and Bognor on a fundraising quest, Richard Reeve set off on his journey after learning that the 100th micropub had opened its doors.

Micropubs are small free houses which aim to keep the atmosphere simple and enjoyable.

Richard said: “With so many pub closures happening all around us, it is heartening to see these new ale-centric pubs bucking the trend.

“Almost all micropubs are run by individuals, not faceless corporations.

“They put cask ale centre stage and understand the importance of an environment that encourages conversation.”

So far, Richard has ridden to over 60 of the pubs on his list, cycling over 1200 miles in the process.

Richard is fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society.

He commented: “The Micropub Association and so many of the micropubs have been very supportive, along with several microbreweries; one brewery even created a special once-off beer for my ride!”

The total raised now stands at £3000, but Richard hopes to have raised over £5000 by the end of the ride as well as raising awareness about the condition.
