MG crew make it a Regis Rally hat-trick

Motoring enthusiasts from the area got into top gear for the annual Regis Rally held by the Bognor Regis Motor Club on Saturday.

The event started and finished at the Amberley Working Museum, following a 140-mile route through the stunning countryside of West Sussex.

A total of 49 crews set off in misty conditions, but by lunchtime the mist had lifted to leave bright sunshine as the participants cruised along country lanes, skirting Petworth and Midhurst and then stopping at Sheet for lunch.

The navigators were kept busy plotting the beginning of the afternoon section which featured a quick spell in Hampshire, before returning cross country to a series of ten tests at Goodwood Racecourse car parks and at Tangmere Airfield nurseries.

The final section of the day took the group through Eartham and Slindon and then back to Amberley where everyone enjoyed a meal.

The results saw a third consecutive win for the Kent crew of David Hughes and Andy Gibson, with David driving Andy's 1968 MG Midget.

Second place went to Richard Dix and Ray Crowther in their MGB.
