McVisit for Karen

McDonald's Franchisee, Dave Padmore, invited Karen to swap her college environment for the world of business and take on a four-hour visit at his Ravenside Retail Park restaurant.

Dave and Business Manager, Sue Thomas, showed Karen their business planning model and how this is translated to the day-to-day running of a successful McDonald's restaurant.

The invitation came about in support of Karen's Leadership Development training. Karen is required to shadow a business leader and Dave '“ who is a College Governor '“ offered her the opportunity to experience first hand what it is like to work at his McDonald's restaurant in Bexhill.

Karen commented: "It is always interesting to see how other organisations function; you can pick up different ideas about running a successful operation. The success of Dave's restaurant is based on teamwork and it is run with precision. I very much enjoyed my visit and there are certainly things that education can learn from the business world".
