Mr Singh commented: "Today we are celebrating by holding this opening event - we have invited everyone here to join with us, and view the rooms if they want to."

St Michael's, in Cooden Drive, has been extended upwards and outwards - it has an extra floor, and new features such as wetroom, as well as extra bedrooms, each one with its own flatscreen television.

Manager Julie Smith said: "It's beautiful. It has completely changed - the home looks really great now, and we have had good feedback from a lot of people."

The home has been awarded two stars from the Care Quality Commission which denotes good service.
