Man rushed to hospital after being hit by falling lamppost

A man has been rushed to hospital this morning (Monday, March 21) after being hit by a falling lamppost near Newhaven Town train station.

Emergency services were called to Railway Approach shortly before 9am to reports of an injured male.

The 23-year-old was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton as a priority with a head injury, back pain and concussion.

The incident has been passed over to the British Transport Police.
