Littlehampton knitters cap their charity target

KNITTERS have smashed their target for supporting a charity campaign and the fruits of their labour will soon be brightening up supermarket shelves.

The Arcade Knitters group members produced an amazing 1,003 small woolly caps which will now be fixed on top of fruit smoothie drinks made by the Innocent company and sold by Sainsbury’s, with 25p from each sale going to Age UK for a “winter warmer” initiative to help older people through the winter.

The group, which meets weekly in Littlehampton, alternating between Parkside Church Hall and St Mary’s Church Hall, set a target of knitting 500 of the little hats, but the 61 members ended up making double that number, led by charity co-ordinator Diana Wade.

They were delivered to the Age UK West Sussex charity shop in Surrey Street, Littlehampton, ready for distribution with the drinks.
