Littlehampton Bonfire Society thanks town’s community

BARGAIN hunters in Littlehampton have been praised for supporting the town’s bonfire society in raising almost £1,600 for the community group.

Littlehampton Bonfire Society has now totalled up the cash from its May Fair fundraiser at St James’ Church Hall, in East Ham Road.

The group managed to drum-up a total of £1,561 towards the costs of the society’s traditional Bonfire Night celebrations in October.

A variety of well-stocked stalls included home made cakes, books and a bumper plant stall supplied with donated plants from local nurseries.

Richard Cooper, society secretary, wished to thank all those who supported the event.

He said: “We are particularly grateful to the local nurseries who so generously donated plants for sale.

Although a little down on last year’s final total, we are very pleased to have raised such a good amount once again.”

The society continues its fundraising drive with its next stall at the Littlehampton town market, in High Street, taking place on tomorrow (Friday, June 13).
