Littlehampton biker airlifted to hospital

A LITTLEHAMPTON motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital yesterday (Monday, August 3) after crashing in Washington.

The rider, a 28-year-old man, was travelling east on the A283 at about 6.60pm, when he collided with a road sign.

A spokesman for Sussex police said: "He was flown by police helicopter to Worthing Hospital, where his condition was described last night as not life-threatening.

"The road was closed for a couple of hours while rescue and recovery work took place."

Anyone who saw the incident, or who was in the area immediately beforehand, is asked to call police on 0845 60 70 999 and quote Operation Fincham.
