"At Martlets the children were given a chance to try rock-climbing, shooting, mountain-biking, treasure trails, lantern-making and making music from recycled home-made drums."

Members all renewed their Scouting Promise at the Sunrise Ceremony as Scouts from all over the world did the same. "With all the flags from the sections represented blowing in the wind it was a very moving experience one that I am sure all the children will remember for a long time.

"The rest of the day was spent enjoying the free funfair that had been arranged and trying different activities.

"On the Thursday we were all taken by coach to the World Jamboree in Essex where we met Scouts from different countries and exchanged our group scarves with many different nationalities such as Norway, Singapore and Brazil - we plan to have an open evening to show off all our scarf and badge swaps in the near future.

"On Friday the Scouts took part in an Adventure Zone day where they tried sailing, rafting, kayaking, orienteering, scuba diving and various team building exercises.

"The week ended with a torchlight procession using lanterns that the children had made marching behind a band and watching a huge firework display.
