Lighthouse leads the way to Felpham garden

The marine safety feature forms part of the plot of Loretta Kennett as recognition of the event's support of the RNLI.

More traditional aspects on show in her garden in First Avenue this weekend will be bedding plants and shrubs.

Mrs Kennett will be among the 22 households putting their hard work on show on Saturday (May 30) and Sunday (May 31) after enjoying her debut in the annual occasion last year.

Spokesman for the event Derek Yeates, said: "The gardens being opened range from a sunken seaside garden and a walled garden to an impressive park-like garden.

"There will be something to see for all ages and ideas may be gleaned for the visitors' own gardens."

Entry programmes, priced 5, are available from Felpham and Summerley post offices and Peter's Newsagents in Middleton.

The Felpham Road church will be open for public viewing from 10am-5pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There is also a ticket-only Pimms Preview at 7.30pm this evening (Thursday).

Tomorrow evening will also see the church resound to its choir singing African Jigsaw in a 7.30pm concert.

Tickets and programmes for all events can be bought from the parish office in the neighbouring St Mary's Centre in Grassmere Close.

Last year's successful festival saw churchgoers donate 2,000 both to Flansham Park Health Centre and Middleton Medical Centre.
