Amneh Sheikh-Ali organised the event at her business Amneh’s Beauty Salon inviting residents to watch the waxing event and donate.

Maxwell Smith was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease last year, which requires him to be connected to a ventilator 24 hours a day.

First believed to be a bad case of tonsillitis, a series of treatments confirmed the muscle wasting disease.

In order to bring Maxwell home to be surrounded by his family, funds must be raised to accommodate the move, including specialist equipment.

Amneh said: “We managed to raise £1640.89 which was amazing.

“Maxwell’s family were thrilled with the amount.”

Starting at the beauty salon, where Tom’s legs were shaved, the event then moved onto the White Horse pub for the head shaving.

“Tom was a truly amazing person that day he went through so much.

“Someone watching said if he has his eyebrows shaved off too he will donate £100 and Tom went ahead and had that done too.”

The pub provided a barbecue on the day (Saturday, June 1) and Maxwell’s mother Emma Smith joined in to help shave Tom.

“Emma got very involved in leg waxing and shaving hair which was lovely.

“I dropped the money round to the family the next day and got to hold and have a cuddle with maxwell.”
