It’s official - we love Sussex!

Sussex is to take centre stage in a new promotion campaign timed to coincide with the Olympics.

Rye tourist information centre is holding a Taste of Sussex Day on Saturday to help launch the new campaign to big-up the county.

The campaign aims to maximise the impact of Olympic related tourism for the county.

The official website www.lovesussex.com promotes Sussex as a location just one hour from London – the perfect place to escape and discover the beauty of the South.

This is the first joint Sussex campaign of its kind and is a result of the combined effort of all local authority destination managers across the county to put Sussex on the map. It uses iconic locations within the county, such as Battle, Rye and Camber Sands to raise awareness and highlight Sussex as a great visitor destination.

The local authorities are working together to raise the profile of Sussex as a key destination, not only to visitors to the Olympics and Paralympic Games, but also visitors and residents looking to escape London during the Olympics and to create a lasting legacy for Sussex for visitors after the Olympic Games. The campaign highlights Sussex’s proximity to London.

Rother District Council leader Cllr Carl Maynard said: “2012 is the ideal year to promote our region, with the various national events attracting people from all over the world, and if visitors are looking for things to do outside London, our county is so diverse that there’s something for everyone.”
