Next Friday 21 is Icklesham’s Art Exhibition Evening in The Memorial Hall from 6 till 9 with cheese and wine and an opportunity to look at the quality of he work produced by local artists.

Saturday 22 September is a big day in the village with two events raising money for St Michael’s Hospice in the memory of Joan Baker. There are bright and colourful posters advertising the day. Joan would have been proud of them as they are the work of her grandchildren.

Starting at 10am on the Recreation Ground there is a sponsored run ( or walk) when youngsters go around the field up to 5 times.Fancy dress can be worn if you like and drinks and refreshments will be availble to keep them all happy.

Following the run the Baker family are holding Joan’s Jumble Sale in the Memorial Hall 11am – 2.30pm with lots of cakes to eat or buy,a Tombola and a Raffle.

Saturday 22 is Quiz Night in the Hall Just get together a team of up to 6,bring along your own food and drink and prepare to compete with some very keen but oddly named teams. If you don,t win the Quiz you have a raffle with lots of prizes. Entry is £2.50 per person and this month,s Quiz proceeds go to the Church.

There was a notice by the Farm Shop which said that it was re-opening.

Icklesham Casuals have started the season. The Veterans had a fine start with a 12-1 victory over the J.C. Tackleway Veterans in the first group game of the Hastings F.A. Veterans Cup. Martin Tytherleigh helped himself to 5 goals, Mike Beaumont completed a hat trick with the other scorers being Sacha Patterson(2), Vernon Deller and Paul Sully.

The 1st.team opened their league campaign with a convincing 6-0 win over Northiam ‘75.Phil Badrock opening the scoring midway through the first half and Kevin Earl headed home from a corner to give Casuals a 2-0 half time lead. Despite missing a penalty early in the second half, 2 goals each from George Richardson and Simon Baker gave Icklesham a comfortable victory.

The 2nd team lost 4-2 away to Wittersham 2nds despite goals from Ben Rootes and Dan Russell.

Monday 24 3.00pm as part of the Rye Arts Festival Ann Rachlin will be presenting ‘’Edie was a Lady’’ in the Methodist Church. With Ann’s superb audio-visual techniques and the fascinating research into the life of Edith Craig, the illegitimate, lesbian,suffragette daughter of super star Ellen Terry this will be an absorbing afternoon. Tickets are £10 from the Rye Arts Festival Box Office, Phillips & Stubbs, Cinque Ports Street, Rye TN31 7AN.*Harvest is celebrated at the end of the month.

On Friday 28 Harvest Supper will be held in the Memorial Hall at 7pm. Tickets for this lovely supper with wine are just £7 and are available from Janet Pegg 01424 814735.

Saturday 29 from 9.30am the Church will be decorated for Harvest Festival. Everyone is welcome to help or even make an arrangement. There are plenty of spaces to fill. Contact Janet Pegg if you want to know more.
