ANNUAL COFFEE MORNING AND MINI MARKET: on Saturday 9 April at the Guide HQ in Trinity Road car park from 10am to 11.30am. Run by the Friends of St Christopher’s Home for the Elderly, which is next to St Lawrence School. This is to raise funds to arrange benefits and social outings for the residents. A wide range of stalls including cakes and savoury items, books, DVDs, CDs, plants, gifts, tombola and raffle. Entrance is 50p and includes a tea or coffee and biscuits.

CRAFT FAIR: hosted by Heber Opera on Saturday 9 April in the Village Centre from 10am to 2pm. Many interesting stalls of varied crafts plus refreshments all day.

RNLI QUIZ NIGHT: back by popular demand on Saturday 9 April in the Village Centre. Teams of up to six are invited to pit their wits against the Quiz Master John Wilkinson. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start, and tickets cost £10 to include a ploughman’s supper, available from Mishon Mackay or the Pet Shop in the High Street. A cash bar will operate and there will be a raffle with some super prizes. A fun evening raising money for a good cause.

BIKE RIDE: the Greater Haywards Heath bike ride takes place on Sunday 10 April, an event which raises funds for the Princess Royal Hospital Maternity Unit amongst other good causes. It will be passing through the village and riders will no doubt welcome support. If any one wants to take part or is willing to act as a marshall contact Ruth on 01444 453399 or [email protected].

HIGH STREET PROBLEMS PUBLIC MEETING: at the New Inn on Monday 11 April at 7.30pm. The campaign by Maddy Dunkley, concerned by the effect of the new High Street layout on parking, shops and their closures, held an initial meeting with like-minded people producing a useful discussion. Now this has moved on to an open public meeting. Questions for the Parish Council on that night can be e-mailed to her at [email protected]. All welcome to go along and add your ideas, and give your support to trying to find some answers.

HURSTPIERPOINT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY :meets on Tuesday 12 April in the Village Centre at 7.45pm to hear Amanda Patton giving an illustrated talk on Designing with Water. She is a garden designer who has won awards, at the Chelsea Flower Show and The Judges Award at the 2013 Society of Garden Designers, and will be an interesting and knowledgeable speaker. Non members also welcome.

WEST GALLERY CONCERT: on Saturday 16 April at Holy Trinity Church showcases Lou Beckerman, jazz singer and instrumentalist, a local favourite. Tickets are just £5, and the concert starts at 6pm and finishes by 7.30pm, allowing attendance at another Saturday evening event. Order tickets in advance and pay at the door.
