Homecoming for former Shoreham choirgirl

A GERMAN choir will be swapping the Bavarian Alps for the Shoreham seaside on its second ever tour of England.

The 20-member Collegium Vocale St Wolfgange, a chamber choir from Munich, together with its director Stefan Ludwig, is set to perform a free concert at St Mary's Church, Shoreham.

Choir member Katie Ritson was born and schooled in Shoreham, and was a regular in St Mary's Church choir for many years.

She studied German at university after completing her A levels at King's Manor Community College, and has lived in Munich since 2003.

The choir will perform a programme of unaccompanied choral works from round the world, including the little-known "Missa Rigensis" by Latvian composer Ugis Praulins.

The group's first tour saw them perform in Lincoln Cathedral and Emmanuel College Chapel, Cambridge, when they vistied last year.

As well as the musical activites, the choir members are looking forward to having some free time to spend in West Sussex.
