Hedges project in need of help

Volunteers are needed to help survey hedgerows in West Sussex as part of a massive scientific study.

Thousands have already been surveyed in East and West Sussex confirming their importance as a refuge for wildlife, plants and trees and the vital part they play in the life of the countryside.

But the work depends largely on volunteers, who are concentrated in the Brighton, Eastbourne and Worthing areas, although people in Selsey and Walberton have supported the project by carrying out complete hedgerow surveys in their own parishes.
