Heather Mills’ tree house plans to be considered by RDC

Ms Mills, who was previously married to former-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, is seeking permission to build the single story tree house in the gardens of Peans Wood, Brightling Road.

The plans include a climbing wall, two spiral staircases, rope bridge, swings and fireman’s pole.

The plans, which have been submitted to the Rother District Council for approval, state that the main structure will stand approximately two metres from ground level and the peak of the tree house roof will reach a maximum height of 5.5 metres above ground level.

The structure will have an internal floor space of 21 squared metres.

Although it is described as a tree house, the structure will be on stilts, with no dependence on surrounding trees for support.

The solid timber posts will be secured into the ground using a small amount of concrete in hand dug holes.

The plans have been submitted by Kent-based firm Blue Forest (UK) Ltd.

In the proposals, Will Hardy from the firm explained that care had been taken to ensure the structure would not impact on neighbouring properties.

He said: “The first key issue was to limit the impact the proposed structure would have on neighbouring properties.

“With this in mind a site was identified for the tree house in the woodlands in a spot that is screened by a collection of oak trees.”

The plans were submitted to Rother on Tuesday and will be discussed by the council’s planning committee at a later date.

Anyone wishing to have their say on the proposals must submit their comments to Rother District Council by June 25.
