Shoreham Port has warned that lives could be endangered this summer if vandals continue destroying safety barriers and removing life saving equipment.

Harbour Master Colin Crookshank has said that a tiny minority is spoiling it for the majority of people and has appealed to the public to report any acts of vandalism.

Barriers were installed in December to stop people jumping or falling into the sea. But in June youths damaged them twice ripping out sections and throwing them into the harbour.

The barriers were quickly replaced port officials fear that a long hot spell plus the summer holidays will attract more vandalism.
