Hannah to trek across Himalayas

A former Felpham Community College student is repaying the charity which supported her brother and sister by trekking across India.

Matthew and Elizabeth Eley both benefited from treatments at Great Ormond Street Hospital when they were young.

Now 29-year-old Hannah Eley, who is a strategic manager for Surrey Social Services, is training hard for a two-week trek which takes place in the Indian Himalayas during November.

She flies to Delhi, and starts her trek in Dharamsala, following the path of the Uhl River, and will pass nomadic shepherd encampments, and India's exiled Tibetan community.

Hannah will be climbing passes more than 8,000 feet above sea level and she will visit a number of ancient trading communities.

The group will then trek to the home of the Dalai Lama.
