Golf group's donation to Littlehampton Food Bank

A GOLFING society has donated food goods worth around £200 to Littlehampton Food Bank.

Oddballs, which is based in East Preston, presented the goods to Margaret Corbett, volunteer at the food bank, last month.

The donation was made after Nigel Warren, a member of Oddballs, won a club competition back in December and decided to choose Littlehampton Food Bank to be the recipient.

Nigel had been jobless for around six months, prior to taking a job at Rustington Golf Centre in June last year.

He said food banks were becoming increasingly important to many people, including families.

“More and more people are struggling financially.” said Nigel.

Food banks are at least something families can turn to rather than go hungry.

“In the current economic climate there needs to be more exposure to foodbanks, and I thought it would be good to donate money in the form of food to them.”

In 2013 Oddballs raised a total of £1,500 for a range of charities.

Golfers wishing to join Oddballs’ fund-raising cause can contact Seaview Stores, in Sea Road, East Preston by phoning 01903 779692.
