GALLERY: New records for Felpham and Middleton show

Keen members of Felpham and Middleton Horticultural Society shrugged off the damaging winds of this summer to produce a record number of entries for its summer show.

They helped to make the annual event on Saturday, August 16, a great success.

There were more entries in the floral art and the fruit and vegetable section than before as well as more children's entries.

Part of the reason for the increase is believed to be peoples' desire to appreciate vegetables they have grown themselves.

The judges were faced with a difficult task to pick the winners from the mass of exhibits.

Not all the entries were for flowers and vegetables.

There are also sections for pot plants to make it possible for flat owners to enter.

Cooks get the chance to shine as well in the baking sections, while the floral art, painting and photographic categories provide scope for those with creative abilities.

First time floral exhibiters benefit from a helpful hint for either a committee member or another exhibiter.

All exhibits are displayed in the containers provided to ensure a level playing field for the judges.
