Four-legged friend seeks transport for Palm Sunday

ST BARNABAS Church, Sea Road, will be celebrating Palm Sunday (April 17) with a pavement procession. Leading the way '“ providing transport can be found - will be Denzil the donkey.

Denzil will be making his appearance courtesy of Bexhill Tree Surgeons, but organisers of the event say they are struggling to find a trailer to transport him to the church by 10.45am.

Father Roger Crosthwaite said: “We would love to process with Denzil, as the children would love to meet him, but if not we shall still have lots of fun walking together and commemorating Jesus’s ride into Jerusalem in the week leading up to the Crucifixion.

“If anyone would like to join us they are very welcome indeed.”

The procession, which will still go ahead with or without the four-legged friend, will start at St Barnabas Church at 11am.

Waving palm trees made by children from St Barnabas’ Messy Church - and from real palm trees - the procession will proceed down Sea Road, continuing along the sea front past the Normanhurst, and up Brassey Road back to the church for the normal service.

If anyone can help with either a box or trailer to take Denzil from just outside Sidley to the church call Sharon on 0772 0905 937, or the church office on 01424 210036.
