BINGO: Bonfire Society Bingo is tomorrow, Saturday, at 7.30pm.

CHROMATICS CHOIR: The choir rehearse on Monday at 7.45pm.

FLETCHING SINGERS: The Singers meet on Tuesday at 7.45pm.

ART GROUP: The art group meet on Wednesday at 1pm.

MARTIAL ARTS: Kobudo Martial Arts meet on Thursday at 5pm.

AGM: The Village Hall Committee AGM is on Thursday at 8pm.

FLETCHING SINGERS: Fletching Church will be candlelit on November 26 at 7.30pm for the Fletching Singers’ annual Advent Concert. The theme this year is A German Baroque Christmas, with seasonal music by Buxtehude, Lübeck, Bach and others, accompanied by The Fletching Players. There will also be carols for choir and audience, and Stollen and Glühwein will be served. Ticket at £12 are available online at www.fletchingsingers.co.uk or from 01825 712462 or at the door.

FLETCHING CHRISTMAS FAIR: Is on Saturday November 26, 2pm to 4pm in Fletching Village Hall. Stalls, refreshments, raffle and fun.

100 YEARS AGO: Sussex Express 24 November 1916. Appeals Tribunal. Further Leave. William Morley, licensee of the Star Inn, Piltdown was, on the application of the brewers, Messrs. Tamplin and Son, granted an additional three weeks from November 30 for the purpose of carrying on the business pending the arrival of the incoming tenant.

Grocer’s Manager. Mr F W Parks, grocer of Fletching, applied for his manager, W E Moore, urging he only had one man left. Till December 31 was allowed, further appeal without permission being refused.

A Valuable Man. Mark Setford, of Fletching, skilled agricultural labourer and brickmaker, was applied for by the Representative of the Board of Agriculture (Mr G Fenner) as being indispensible to the district, as the only thatcher there. Till December 31 was allowed.
