Felpham footpath to make school run safer

WORK to widen the footpath on the A259 Felpham Way in Felpham began last Thursday.

The 29,970 West Sussex County Council scheme will run between Felpham Way and St Mary's Church. It is part of a Safer Routes to School scheme for Felpham Community College.

The scheme, supported by Felpham Parish Council, will also help Downview Primary School which has seen an increase in the number of pupils walking and cycling to school.

Both schools' travel plans aim to reduce car journeys by promoting cycling, public transport and car sharing.

The footpath will be closed for the duration of the work, but pedestrians can use Felpham Way and Felpham Road instead.

Weather permitting, it will take around four weeks to complete, with work being carried out Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5pm.
