The eye-catching structure was funded by a grant from The Gilmour-Colquhoun Trust and is proving to be a great space for pupils to enjoy learning in a different environment, come rain or shine.

Parents and carers of children have been working hard making cushions for the children to sit on, in a project led by Kira Jones and Lauren Willard.

School grounds co-ordinator Marian Francis and the Friends of East Preston School, the PTA, and are delighted with the results.

Head teacher Claire New said: “The cushions are so colourful and have been made from old curtain sample books supplied by R & J Leggett Soft Furnishing before their retirement last October.”

The PTA and school council are working hard at raising funds to complete the furnishing of the dome, including a seating/storage area, electricity supply and outside educational resources, so it can be used to the full in September.

Anyone who would like to help is asked to call the PTA on 0787 9641835.

Tomorrow’s Gazette (Thursday, July 25) will have a round-up of the end-of-term activities at schools from across the Littlehampton area.
