Dorothy brings up 100

"THE ODD glass of sherry and a good sense of humour" have been revealed as the secret to a long life by a Bexhill centenarian.

Dorothy Cockett, of Gibb Close, celebrated her 100th birthday at home on Sunday in the company of family and friends.

The party came as something of a pleasant shock to Dorothy, as it had been organised in secret by the family.

Dorothy said the party had come as a complete surprise.

Citing a good laugh as the reason behind her longevity, Dorothy was happy to smile for the camera.

Her actually birthday fell on Monday

She has three great granddaughters and was presented with a special cake to mark the occasion, with a picture of the children printed on the front.
