Divers recover wishing well cash

COINS collected from the depths of the wishing well at the Needlemakers, Lewes, will help children with special needs from across the county.

More than 1,000 was found in the well and every penny will go to the Downs View School for children with severe learning disabilities.

In the past ten years numerous charities have benefitted from the money collected from the well, including the Lewes Victoria Hospital and victims of the Asian tsunami, and the full amount raised adds up to more than 6,000.

Earlier this month the Wealden Cave and Mine Society took the plunge down the 30ft well to gather the cash.
