Three arrested in Worthing and Lancing drug raids as police seize thousands of pounds

Sussex Police has seized thousands of pounds in 'cannabis cash' in a series of raids in Worthing, Lancing and Horsham.

In what a police spokesman described as a number of 'days of action', officers from the Worthing Prevent Team carried out three operations on the back of intelligence received from members of the public.

The spokesman said that over the last month a property in Ham Road, Worthing was targeted, as well as a second in Crabtree Lane in Lancing.

'Cannabis cash' was seized from both locations, according to the spokesman, and two men and a woman were arrested for drug offences.

The team also hit a third property in Naldrett Close, Horsham, where officers seized almost £7,000 in cash and a significant amount of cannabis.

A 21-year-l,d man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug and has been released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing, the spokesman said.

Assistant Chief Constable Julia Chapman said: “We are aware of a number of issues affecting the different communities across the county and we have been listening to those concerns.

“Thanks to vigilant members of the public reporting matters to us, we are able to build a picture of inteligence and decide on the best action to take.”
