Third week of lockdown sees 72 people arrested in Hastings and Rother

Hastings Police said people were detained on suspicion of a range of offences.

They included theft, drug driving, grievous bodily harm, criminal damage, aggravated burglary, possession of an offensive weapon, and assault on an emergency worker.

Police said: “Despite the lockdown and bank holiday weekend, our officers were still hard at work this week, resulting in 72 arrests across Hastings and Rother.

“We want to remind you that we are still out there protecting our community during these unprecedented times, and we encourage that you continue to report any crimes to us using our online form that can be found on our website, or by calling 999 in an emergency.”

Last week – the second since lockdown measures were announced – saw a total of 53 arrests.

In the first week of lockdown, 47 people were arrested across Hastings and Rother.
