Third week of lockdown sees 72 people arrested in Hastings and Rother

A total of 72 people were arrested in Hastings and Rother last week – the third since the government announced a partial lockdown in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hastings Police said people were detained on suspicion of a range of offences.

They included theft, drug driving, grievous bodily harm, criminal damage, aggravated burglary, possession of an offensive weapon, and assault on an emergency worker.

Police said: “Despite the lockdown and bank holiday weekend, our officers were still hard at work this week, resulting in 72 arrests across Hastings and Rother.

Last week – the second since lockdown measures were announced – saw a total of 53 arrests.

In the first week of lockdown, 47 people were arrested across Hastings and Rother.
