Police officer in court charged with common assault outside Chameleon Club in Horsham

Anthony Giles, a Surrey Police officer, aged 43. is due to appear on bail at Crawley Magistrates Court on Wednesday 12 February, charged with common assault and with making threats of violence.

It follows an incident to which local Sussex officers were called outside the Chameleon Club in Horsham shortly after 2am on December 22 last year.

Giles was off-duty at the time.

The victim of the alleged common assault, who was not injured, was a door supervisor outside the club, which had just closed at the time.

Giles had not been in the club.
