Members of the town council were asked their views on the idea at a full council meeting onThursday last week.

They were also asked to lead the way and agreed to adorn the town hall.

But Cllr Ruth O'Keefe had some concerns about the scheme.

She said: 'I think one of my concerns would be they look very nice but we have been dogged by misfortune with lights, are these particularly robust?'

Cllr O'Keefe was assured by the chamber through the town clerk that the

LED lights were more suitable and easily replaced.

Members voted unanimously to spend 1,997 on a selection of stalactite strings and twigs of white lights.
