Cooden pilates

Dorota Laurie began learning pilates five years ago to ease her back pain.

She then became a qualified teacher and is now holding classes in Cooden to help others improve their posture and fitness.

Pilates is useful for strengthening shoulder girdle and core muscles - abdominals, deep back- and regaining mobility of the spine.

Dorota teaches at Cooden Beach Sport and Social Club and has a number of classes aimed at different levels, from beginners to advanced students.

She said: "I have a master degree in Physical Education and have been teaching and coaching for ten years. I have qualified in Stott Pilates and began teaching about a year ago. My experience with Pilates began 5 years ago, when I have been referred to it by a physio, as I had lower back problems.

"I have joined classes, also had one-to-one sessions, to understand it better.

"I have experienced almost immediate effect, so I have decided to take the course and became a Pilates instructor."
