Community votes Bognor PCSO a local hero

A police community support officer from Bognor Regis has been rewarded for her efforts.

PCSO Jan Williams won the 999 category in the Local Heroes Awards run by local radio station Spirit FM, which broadcasts to Bognor Regis, Chichester and Littlehampton.

She was nominated for the award by members of the community and was presented with it at the Hilton Avisford Park hotel in Yapton Lane, Walberton.

Her citation read: "Jan is a PCSO for the Bognor Regis area. She has been nominated for our 999 award thanks to the tireless work she does for the children in her neck of the woods.

"Jan is an approachable authority figure for them and she has the ability to connect with all members of the community, be they young or old."

It went on: "With the help of some other PCSOs, Jan has organised various events throughout the year to keep the young people in the area occupied and out of trouble.

"Jan will always go that extra mile to help someone who has a problem or needs help and she thoroughly deserves to be thanked and recognised for all her hard work."
