Church bids for greater involvement
PLANS to foster closer links between a Shoreham church and the community are to be discussed at an informal meeting.
A ‘meet the vicar’ evening is being organised by the Shoreham Society at St Mary de Haura Church, a focal point in the town centre, on Friday.
The Rev Ann Waizeneker will explain the proposed pastoral reorganisation of Shoreham’s Anglican churches and describe her first two years as priest in charge of both St Mary and St Nicolas churches.
She will outline her hopes for the future, including further integration of the church into community life, and how this might be achieved.
She said: “We are delighted to welcome the Shoreham Society to St Mary de Haura for this informal meeting.
“This historic church and its work is such an important part of the town and it will be good to share views as to how the church can continue to grow and flourish in Shoreham.”
The event, at 7.30pm, is part of the society’s regular series of meetings, open to members and non-members. Meetings are usually held at St Peter’s Church Hall, in West Street, Shoreham, but visitors on Friday should head straight to St Mary’s.
Entry is free but a collection will be made to meet church expenses. Drinks and nibbles will be available.
