Cash machine stolen in Crawley

A cash machine was stolen from a Crawley shop.

A police spokesman said the ATM was loaded into a white Peugeot van after two men in dark clothes forced their way into a Mulberry’s convenience store in Shire Parade, Pound Hill, at about 2am on Saturday (March 12).

Officers spotted it at Turners Hill Crossroads shortly after it was driven off.

The vehicle refused to stop and was later found abandoned in Gunning Close, Bewbush.

Both the vehicle and the cash machine have been seized by police for further investigation.

Detective Sergeant Karrie Bohanna said: “I am pleased that we have managed to recover the ATM and would now like to speak with anyone who saw what happened in Shire Parade on Saturday morning.

“Witnesses can email [email protected] or call 101 quoting reference 142 of 12/03.”
