Car wash for good causes

CLASSICAL music and biscuits 'while you wait' added a refined edge to a car wash for good causes at St Michael's Church on Saturday.Members of the 'The Crib' youth club at the Glassenbury Drive church invited members of the public to bring their mud-splattered vehicles in for a good scrubbing.

Many hands made light work as the sun shone on the cleaning crews, allowing them to get through a string of dirty vehicles.

Proceeds from the event will go towards costs for a trip to the Greenbelt Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The festival is one of the largest Christian arts and music events in the country.

The Crib have already raised nearly 150 from various other fundraising activities.

"They know if they don't work, they don't get to eat," joked Rev Olivia Werrett. "But seriously, it has gone very well we have had an excellent time and it is as much about team building as it is raising money."
