Campaigners launch fight to save Littlehampton’s cinema equipment

Campaigners are forming a new petition in hopes of saving the Windmill Entertainment Centre’s cinema facilities.

Members of the Littlehampton Civic Society have launched an impassioned bid for Arun District Council to support the cinema by purchasing new digital projection equipment.

Angela Tester, civic society secretary, has enrolled dozens of shops across Littlehampton and Rustington in the campaign.

She hopes to gain more than 1,500 signatures by the end of next month – a number which would force Arun councillors to debate the issue at a full council meeting. She said: “It’s vital we get this funding. The wards closest to the Windmill are some of the most deprived in the county. We need to keep the amenities within this deprived area.”

Petitions can be signed at many businesses, including Hunnies Café, High Street, The Beach Hut, Pier Road and Gazette office in Beach Road. In Rustington, F. W. Skinner and Son, in Churchill Parade, and Owen Electrical, The Street, have forms. For more, see www.littlehamptoncivicsociety.org.uk
