Busy day for fire crew

Loose hoardings, damaged windows and fencing were among the problems dealt with by Bexhill fire crews during bad weather on Monday.

A hoarding was blown onto cars parked in Jameson Road from the site of the former Grand Hotel but none of the vehicles were significantly damaged.

Watch Commander Grahame Hobden commented: "It was fortunate because the hoarding hadn't done serious damage, and was just blown onto the side of them.

"There were lots of bits and pieces connected with the weather - it kept us busy enough, with loose windows being blown out of buildings and fencing blown down - nothing too serious."
