CLOWNING around has made Hal Brooks the top Bognor Regis resident.

Hal has won the town mayor’s Good Citizen’s Award for 2011.

He was presented with his trophy at the annual civic reception hosted by the mayor, Sandra Daniells, last Friday.

“It was a real surprise when I realised people were talking about me and the award,” said Hal, 90, of Yapton Road, Middleton.

“It’s absolutely fantastic to win it and I’m flabbergasted. It’s the first time I’ve been specially recognised by a mayor.”

Mr Brooks is the sixth recipient of the award.

Meanwhile The Sausage Squad was recently reunited to mark Mr Brooks’ birthday.

Mr Brooks, and Sammy Sausage (Sam Rowe) and Captain Jim Brooks came together again to recall their favourite capers.
