Bognor Christmas lights switch-on date announced

Bognor Regis Town Council is busy planning for the switch-on of the town's Christmas illuminations on November 28.

This year will see the last outing for the current street displays, as the hire contract ends in January.

The council is currently preparing some exciting new designs for

2010.

To help with the cost of providing the lights, the town council is offering local businesses a new sponsorship opportunity.

Each year a Christmas tree is placed at the railway station and protected by fencing.

The town council is buying ten, 2ft diameter foam baubles and companies can pay to have their name emblazoned on one in full colour.

Christmas illuminations sub-committee chairman Cllr Jeanette Warr said: "The baubles will be in place from November 28 until January 6.

"The Christmas tree is a great focal point during the Christmas period and the sponsorship baubles present an ideal opportunity for local firms to get their name into the public domain."

The cost of each bauble, including printing fees, is 100 plus VAT.
