Bognor business park attracts new firms

The transformation of a business park in Bognor Regis has attracted new companies to the area.

When investment company PNH Properties took over Castlegrove Business Park in Durban Road 18 months ago, it was run-down, had been vandalised and many of the 16 units were vacant.

The 78,000sq ft site has now been completely refurbished, with new signage and lamppost banners and all but two of the units have been let. Four new businesses are now operating from the location.

PNH Properties managing director Peter Hunt, said: "We purchased this business park because we saw the potential both in Durban Road and in Bognor Regis itself as the business park needed a large investment through a renovation project to bring it up to a modern-day standard.

"We also saw there was a large investment taking place in Bognor Regis and an exciting regeneration programme under way and we wanted to be a part of it.

"To date we have spent considerable amounts of money in refurbishing the units and we are very pleased in how the lettings are taking place. There are two current units available and we have already had strong interest for these."

Where possible, local businesses were used to carry out the impressive revamp.

Cllr Norman Dingemans, Arun cabinet member for economic and cultural development, said: "At a time when many companies are looking to reduce their spending on land and estates it's really encouraging to see investment on this scale.

"PNH's welcome arrival in Bognor Regis has led to the transformation of their site and attracted new businesses to the area which is good news for Arun."

Christopher Shepherd, Arun District Council's business parks co-ordinator, has worked closely with the company throughout the renovation.

He added: "PNH Properties have really made a difference to the units at Castlegrove Business Park, which I believe has also encouraged an improving trend in the quality of other employment space in South Bersted Business Park.

"Peter has also been a key figure in encouraging all parties to keep areas tidy, smart and looking like a commercial area should do, which is having a positive impact in terms of trade for many businesses in Castlegrove and South Bersted Business Parks."
