Students from the reception class to year six learned and performed poems, with forms five and six writing their own.

The school was praised and scored 90 marks for its lively rendition of T.S Eliot’s Macavity in the choral speaking class, labelled ‘absolutely marvellous’ by the adjudicator.

Drama specialist Jo Collishaw said: “ The children really enjoy performing and work hard to learn their poems.

“We always do well in the choral speaking, but the score this year was our highest ever.”

Parents and families of pupils attending Charter’s Ancester can see the poems performed again at a special concert this week.
