Become a key part in Angmering’s life

With elections looming in May, Angmering Parish Council wants to hear from locals who are keen to stand for a position on the authority.

The council is holding an open day, on Friday, March 20, at the village hall, in Station Road, between 12.30pm and 7pm, and on March 21, from 9am to 12.30pm, for residents to find out more about the role of a parish councillor and the election process.

Parish council clerk Rob Martin said: “It is a very rewarding way to volunteer in the community. Being a parish councillor gives you a genuine opportunity to help shape the future of the village, to protect it for future generations and to ensure your neighbourhood’s voice is heard at district and county council level.”

Prospective councillors would need to be able to attend one evening meeting a month, as well as initial training for the role.

“Anyone who is engaged with local issues will find the training interesting and relevant,” Mr Martin added.

There are currently also vacancies for a co-opted member, a temporary role until the elections, on May 7.
