A BBC film crew got a behind-the- scenes glimpse of life in an amateur dramatics production after visiting Maresfield on Monday.

A BBC film crew got a behind-the- scenes glimpse of life in an amateur dramatics production after visiting Maresfield on Monday. The crew filmed the Maresfield Millennium Players rehearsals for their forthcoming pantomime 'Red Riding Hood .

The footage will be featured in a documentary called 'A week in the West End , which will be broadcast later this month. Chris Whittle, a Millennium Player, said the BBC were interested in filming 'a local society of passionate and enthusiastic amateurs . He added: 'They became intrigued about what motivated "ordinary" people with daytime jobs to dedicate their precious weekends and evenings to learning lines, dressing up and taking to the stage. As part of the documentary, the BBC filmed an interview with Players chairman Tony Hobrow at his office in the City. 'They followed my transformation from dapper City gent to pantomime dame, he said.

The panto, by Jim Sperinck, will be performed from February 13-16 at Maresfield Village Hall.
