Battle Art Club
enjoys townscape painting lesson

In spite of the wonderful sunshine outside July’s meeting of the Battle and District Arts Group was well attended, with about 40 members and guests foregoing the weather to watch a demonstration by Hagop Kasparian.

Hagop demonstrated in oils on a townscape with hints and tips designed to take the guesswork out of perspective, he gave a thoroughly entertaining commentary as he worked, revealing a wicked sense of humour.

As always there was a short break for tea when members had time to pick Hagop’s brains and admire the painting progress up close.

The afternoon went by in a flash thanks to some witty banter with the group and Hagop inspired us all, producing a lovely sunny townscape with believable figures.

He made everything seem so simple that I’m sure we all went home armed with useful tips and good intentions of producing paintings that include buildings and figures.

There is no group meeting in August as we will be hosting our usual Summer Art Exhibition at the Memorial hall (Battle High Street) between the 7th and 17th

The exhibition will be open daily from 10am -5pm with free admission it is a great opportunity to see the work our members have been producing over the year.
